Twings are run a variety of ways. There are some boats that use a small ratchet w/cam cleat mounted to the stanchion, or a toe-rail mounted car (like WASABI). This type has to be controlled from a point near the ratchet.

Others (like those shown below) are run back along the cabin side to a cam cleat mounted on the side of the cabin where they can be adjusted by anyone in the area.

Rhumb Punch (if memory serves) use the first type, while Hustler uses the second. Each of these boats are at the upper level of J/29s on a regular basis, so having one system rather than the other will not add that elusive additional 0.2 knots we are looking for.

The toe rail car above is also pretty useful for barber hauling, fairlead for docklines, etc.

The toe rail car (A.K.A. "Genoa Slide") in the above photos are from West Marine. Here is the info from their site:

ABI Genoa Slide
Description: Plunger pin lock lets you keep the spring-loaded pin in the up or down position by turning the knob 1/4 turn, so you can reposition the slide easily even when there's a load on it.
